BESS Park Connection to a 110/10 kV Transformer Substation
About project
In the largest privately developed BESS project in Lithuania, developed by the E energija Group, Energia futura carried out the connection works for a 60 MW / 130 MWh battery energy storage park to the Šventininkai 110/10 kV transformer substation, ensuring its safe and reliable integration into Lithuania’s electricity transmission network operated by Litgrid (TSO).
Within this project, we were responsible for the full scope of high-voltage connection works assigned to the Litgrid side, including:
· construction of new 110 kV bay infrastructure – foundations, cable ducts, internal access road, fencing, and surface works;
· installation of 110 kV open switchgear equipment: disconnectors, circuit breaker, current and voltage transformers, terminal and metering cabinets;
· installation and commissioning of protection, control, and communication systems – a new relay cabinet with protection and control terminals, upgraded busbar differential protection terminal, and communication equipment;
· completion of all RPA and RTU system configuration, testing, and commissioning works.
The connected 130 MWh battery energy storage system enhances transmission grid balancing and stability. In BESS projects of this scale, precise coordination between energy storage technologies and high-voltage infrastructure is a critical success factor. By delivering projects of this importance, Energia futura contributes to strengthening the stability and resilience of the national power grid.
