"Formula Air Baltic" 180 kW solar power plant

About company

Formula Air has been developing industrial clean-air solutions for more than 30 years, supplying standard dust extraction components for a wide range of industries. The company offers a variety of specialized components, including fans and filters, rotary valves and fire dampers, designed to meet ATEX requirements.

Formula Air Baltic is based in Šiauliai, Lithuania, and exports the majority of its products to international markets, including Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway and the Baltic countries.

The company’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its products. As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, Formula Air Baltic aims to reduce CO₂ emissions across its value chain by 50% by 2030 and achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2055.

About project

Due to the company’s significant electricity consumption, the Energia Futura team installed a 250 kW rooftop solar power plant on Formula Air Baltic’s manufacturing facility in Šiauliai.

The project features Trina Solar Vertex modules, two 125 kW Sungrow inverters and an Esdec mounting system with an east-west orientation. This layout was selected to match the company’s operating profile, enabling solar electricity generation from early morning until evening and maximizing direct on-site consumption while minimizing energy exported to the ESO grid.

As the solar power plant exceeds 100 kW, a TSPI teleinformation collection and transmission system was also installed, enabling remote control through the ESO dispatch centre’s DMS system.

The solar plant equipment, including the inverters, data logger and metering cabinet, was installed behind the glass facade facing the main street. As the equipment is clearly visible from outside, its colours were carefully matched to the building to maintain a clean and consistent architectural appearance.
